Axel's most famous book is The Gruffalo, one of a number of books he has produced with Julia Donaldson along with A Squash and a Squeeze, The Smeds and the Smoos, Zog and The Highway Rat. Axel Scheffler is one of the country's best loved and most well known illustrators, Axel was born in Germany and moved to England to study art before deciding to become an illustrator and settling in the UK.
